There are restaurants with great interior & fancy decor.. Well Plum
by Bent Chair is all that and a whole lot more!! We happen to visit this one on a Sunday night. Situated in South Mumbai at the very happening Kamla
Mills, this outlet is meant to grab the attention with all the charm.
We have heard a lot about Plum by Bent chair being a true Retail
restaurant. Before visiting here, we weren’t really clear about the concept of
‘Retail restaurant’. It basically means you can dine and shop under same roof
at the same time. At Plum, you can shop while you eat and take home everything
in sight. This includes the crockery in which they serve, the wall hangings,
furniture, décor pieces etc. This outlet is a collab between the
restaurant Plum, and the home decor brand Bent Chair.
At first, we thought we are in some palace with pretty ceiling work & everything nicely decorated. This dynamic place has an altogether warm, cozy and a creative aura. The
outlet has purple (mostly) walls, green creepers hanging from the ceiling, high
backed chairs, artisanal furniture & wall arts. Oh and don’t forget, you
can purchase whatever art piece you like. Personal favorite: Our table had this
golden quirky tissue holder in shape of Lips. Although we visited for dinner,
personally we believe the outlet would look more magical in daytime with
sunlight coming from the large glass windows.
Plum by Bent Chair offers Pan Asian cuisines and the menu sticks to the
same which we personally liked. We decided to try out some new items which we
neither had earlier nor were familiar with. Starting from Soups to Desserts,
menu offers a range of Asian food items. Some of the interesting items being:
Prawn Sesame toast, Pan fried Gyoza (Japanese styled Pan seared dumplings),
Avocado Mango uramaki (Sushi), Steamed Jasmine rice, Tropical Cheesecake. Their
Drinks Menu too has various interesting items to order. And the menu
has some Gluten free options too. If you will get stuck up somewhere, Plum staff
will help & suggest you the items as per your liking!!
Talking about what we had,
1. Classic Hot & Sour (INR 340) – A classic item but it tasted totally
different at Plum. With tangy Soy broth base, it had tofu pieces, sliced
carrots and cabbage.

2. Cucumber, Quinoa & Avocado Salad - This salad had avocado (which made us order this), basil, pickled beet, cucumber, tomato and crispy quinoa. The quinoa caviar somehow didn’t come up good for our taste buds. Portion size was good though.

3. Prawn Tempura Uramaki (INR 690) – This one is basically Sushi. It had stuffing of crispy prawns & avocado. The rolls had spicy mayonnaise taste as well. We totally relished this sushi experience at Plum. Moreover the plate had 8 sushi rolls which turned out to be very fulfilling & satisfying. It was served with Teriyaki glaze (soy sauce with some sugar & ginger to it).

4. Pan seared Chicken Gyoza
(INR 495) – These were Tokyo styled dumplings with Chicken & cabbage
filling. It’s a cuisine for someone who wants to keep it simple yet Asian. This
item was served with 4 different sauces to eat with.

5. Cantonese sliced chicken (INR 475) – This was Cantonese style (sweet & salty with garlic) soy tossed chicken tenders. It was slightly on the sweeter side (being Cantonese).

6. Mongolian chicken clay pot (INR 555) – After Cantonese, we decided to try out Mongolian as well!! After all it was a night dedicated to trying out new cuisines. This one had a sweet & spicy gravy. Similar to Cantonese chicken, it too had soy sauce base but the chicken tenders were a bit on the crispier side which we loved. Great dish to enjoy with fried rice or noodles.

7. Chilli oil noodles (INR 455) – Classic noodles tossed in chilli oil and sliced veggies. We had this with Mongolian chicken. They complimented each other wonderfully.
8. Plum Tropical Cheesecake
(INR 550) – Served with freshly cut tropical fruits, this lime cheesecake did
wonders to our taste buds. It had an interesting flavor. Highly recommend this
one!

Overall, our Pan Asian experience at Plum by Bent chair was amazing! The presentation of the cuisines was marvelous. We loved the Sushi & Mongolian chicken majorly. And the lime cheesecake made our night! The portion size was not only satisfactory but was value for money too. We would surely love to pick some beautiful decor items the next time. To sum up, Plum by bent chair is surely a place for Asian food lovers who along with the food experience don’t mind to enjoy a bit of shopping!!
