Crossing food boundaries @Tick-eat | Mulund west | Mumbai

By - April 20, 2019

We have been to a number of theme based restaurants and cafes. But Tick-eat took us with surprise with its altogether unique theme. The entire outlet has an Airport cum Bon Voyage theme. Tick-eat claims to run at the idea of setting a delicious food journey which can very well satisfy the taste buds along with passanger's wanderlust!! They have two outlets in Mumbai city. We happen to visit the one in Mulund with our work colleagues.

Talking about the ambiance, they have a lot going on the walls – Maps, Airplane routes and cuisines popular at different places/countries. The furniture is mostly done in wood work with hues of yellow, orange and brown. On one extreme end is the kitchen/bar counter (non-alcoholic drinks).

Tick-eat is a pure-veg restaurant and is great to hang out with friends, family or colleagues. Apart from the regular Ala-carte, they have buffet system as well. Here you can cross the food boundaries without any visa. Why are we saying so?? Well, they have all kinds of food items on their menu – Lebanese, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Mexican etc. Some of the interesting items being: Cottage cheese Pinwheel (INR 289), Mumbai Mahal Pizza (INR 379), Chimi-Changa (INR 229), Nazakati Kumbh (INR 239), Chocolate Landscape (INR 519) and many more.

The outlet has a good enough varieties of mocktails to choose from – Cindrella (Pineapple juice, Orange juice with grenadine syrup INR 189), Nice n Naughty (with Vanilla icecream INR 239), Golden cream (Orange juice, sugar syrup, cream, chocolate INR 239) etc.

We loved the restaurant staff courtesy as well.

Below is what we tried:

1. Romalio Italiano (INR 259) – It is an Italian food item as the name suggests. This one had a flat thin crust base topped with diced veggies (bell peppers, onions, tomatoes etc) tossed in tangy-spicy sauce and topped with grated cheese. It looks like a pizza but is not – as this item is neither baked nor cooked. A great item to start with.

2. Cheese munchies (INR 249) – These were paneer-cheese cutlets served in shot glasses filled with a dip majorly made up of tomatoes, cream cheese & chili flakes. We personally loved the presentation!! Totally recommend this food item. It deserves all the marks.

3. Veg Quesadillas (INR 239) – This one is a Mexican dish. It consists of a wrap bread made up of wheat filled with veggies, sauce, spices and cheese. We expected it to be somewhat rich in flavors but it was not.

4. Fantasy Pizza (INR 379) – We ordered this one because of its unique name. On a spicy tomato sauce base, it had paneer cubes, onion, capsicum and mozzarella cheese. So it was nothing fancy but a great choice for pizza lovers.

Fantasy Pizza
5. Pasta Delbarone (INR 329) – It was a pink sauce (red and white sauce mixed) pasta. But it didn’t look pink which is quite normal!! It had veggies - broccoli, zucchini & onion. A classic cuisine if you don’t like to experiment with your food.

6. Brownie with Vanilla ice cream (INR 259) – A well-known & loved combo of hot brownie with vanilla ice cream, this dessert item was all love and nothing less!! A must try.
